Maddox and I joined Mom and Lee for a visit to a couple of local cemeteries for Memorial Day. I am hoping to visit more cemeteries to gather more information and images for the family history.
From my great Aunt Rosie... "The ruby was originally mounted in a high-pronged gold ring which my mother received from her father on her 10th birthday in 1917. Mom gave me the ring in the 50's when I was in high school and I wore it some and put it in my jewelry box. On one of mom's birthdays, I decided to have the ring made into a pendant and give it back to her for a present. She always took such care with it and wore it to church and when she went out anywhere. After mom died in 1989, my sister, Barbara gave the pendant back to me because mom lived with Barbara for 7 years after she gave up her home in Montgomery. Anyway, the rube pendant is now 90 years old...."
The beautiful ruby...
Evey saw me photographing the necklace and wanted to model it for the camera...
Now it is tucked away safe and sound for when she is much older. :-) Thank you so much Rosie!
I recently asked my dad for some photos of Grandma Mock since I didn't have any. I scored these two awesome images. I love the contrast...one very posed and perfect...the other a candid action shot.
At Connor's birthday party, Chris had several photos of Grandpa Apple...I believe from Dana. So I figured I would go ahead and share those. This first image is fantastic...even from a photography standpoint. Love it!
Love the hair, the striped pants with suspenders, and the intense stare...

And with Grandma Mock... What a great looking couple!
I guess I'll start with the family tree that I have managed to piece together so far. The green font indicates a name I do not know or am not certain of...so please let me know if you can fill in any blanks or add to the tree in any way. You can comment below or send me an email. THANKS!

I have an idea to create a family pedigree (something we use in genetics) so that I can make a family tree with far more branches to include siblings...that will be my next project. :-)
Many years ago I began a geneaology project. I am fascinated by history, especially family history. I get really excited about the old photographs and interesting stories! So as I get time, I will be posting images/info/stories that I have collected for the project. I am hoping that by sharing this blog among family members, I will be able to generate even more images and tales for the collection. So PLEASE help me out whenever you can with names, dates, details, etc. If you can...email me family stories, or photos of family members/treasures along with a description of the people involved. I will get it posted for all the family to see and enjoy!
