Memorial Day 2010

Maddox and I joined Mom and Lee for a visit to a couple of local cemeteries for Memorial Day. I am hoping to visit more cemeteries to gather more information and images for the family history.

Beautiful Ruby

From my great Aunt Rosie...
"The ruby was originally mounted in a high-pronged gold ring which my mother received from her father on her 10th birthday in 1917. Mom gave me the ring in the 50's when I was in high school and I wore it some and put it in my jewelry box. On one of mom's birthdays, I decided to have the ring made into a pendant and give it back to her for a present. She always took such care with it and wore it to church and when she went out anywhere. After mom died in 1989, my sister, Barbara gave the pendant back to me because mom lived with Barbara for 7 years after she gave up her home in Montgomery. Anyway, the rube pendant is now 90 years old...."

The beautiful ruby...

Evey saw me photographing the necklace and wanted to model it for the camera...

Now it is tucked away safe and sound for when she is much older. :-)
Thank you so much Rosie!
